Great-grandfather Robert and his wife Sarah had three children, Hannah Mary Humphreys (b. 1862) who married Herbert Allport, Anne (b. 1864) who never married, and Robert. On Robert's birth certificate it says they lived at

- close neighbours of the Richey family. He and his future wife were born within a few days of each other, and within a few hundred yards at most."
