In April 1912  a young Australian woman, Grace Robertson, arrived in

Quetta

.

On 5th March 1913 George F.H.Dickson and

Grace Ethel Robertson

(see right) got married at St.Andrews, Ashley place, London. A few years later they bought a manor situated immediately on Lake Windermere,

Stock Park

(Lakeside, Ulverston), to live there (see also pictures below). (Sources: the Humphreys family and the book "Thos. Robertson & Sons", by Diana M. Halmarick, Australia)

According to recent research done by the historian Robert Hull, who wrote an extended essay about the history of the estate from its beginnings to the present day, Stock Park must have been built in the second half of the 1850s. It had several owners until, in 1919, it was bought by George F.H.Dickson. In 1925 the estate contained 350 acres. "He was heavily involved over the next two decades buying and letting properties in the area, together with his brother and his sister. It seems that over a period of years he assembled the estate.... In 1939 (he) gave the northern part of the the estate to the YMCA to be their National Centre... On Dickson's death .. the estate.. was.. auctioned and divided  into 14 parts

[bought by a property company and the sitting tenant

].      The YMCA bought the northern boathouse. In 1970 the original farm house was demolished and replaced by a modern building. Its outbuildings were converted into four apartments (

The Grange

)" (from: Robert Hull, "Stock Park Mansion:1850 to the present", 2010) Eventually also most of the ground became the property of the apartment holders.
