It was in Quetta, India, where in 1912 (probably) Grace Robertson got to know her later husband,

George F.H.Dickson

. He was a fellow officer of her sister Meg's (since 1908) husband Robin Johnson.

The story of George Dickson's proposal to Grace has been passed on by

Betty Humphreys

, Grace's daughter, to her sons John and Richard: "He was extremely nervous when he proposed marriage to his friend's sister-in-law. He popped the question and then rode off on his bicycle, completely forgetting to stay around for the answer." (John Humphreys).

On 8th March 1913 Grace Robertson and George Dickson married in London and settled at

Stock Park

, Lakeside, Ulverston, situated immediately on Lake Windermere.

Two

ciné films

taken by her daughter Betty in 1931 and 1939 show Grace Robertson and can be watched
