* We owe great gratitude to our cousin Michael Dickson who made this and other treasures accessible and consented to their publication here.

On the 14th February 1859 G.F.Dickson, died, 71 years old, in his house 20 Hanover Terrace, Regent's Park, London, still Argentinian consul (see left). His sons Spencer Naylor und Frederick Cartwright continued his work.

Commercially the South American trade continued to be the main focus of G.F.Dickson's acitivities. Now the firm was called "G.F.Dickson & Co." only, the name of his partner Montgomery did not appear any more. The representation in Buenos Aires and in Montevideo was done by agents, the longest serving of them was Frederick Hughes.

CoatOfAms2

It was in London where G.F.Dickson spent the last two decades of his life, from about 1835 to his death in 1859. Here his life and work reached some new heights, especially when he served as a

consul general

for the River Plate or Argentina, and, for a short time, even as an Argentinian minister (1853).

In London, the family at first lived at Clarence Terrace, Regent's Park, before they moved to 20, Hanover Terrace, Regent's Park (see pictures).
